Build it together

The first job is the best one: building the tree

Set it up on November 30th or the morning of the 1st. It's a two-pairs-of-hands job, and it's the kids' favourite part.

  1. Lay it all outTree halves, base, star and bells on the table. Let the kids count the doors.
  2. Slot the halves togetherOne half slides down over the other to make a cross, then the trunk presses into the base.
  3. Star on topWhoever is tallest does the star. Then add the bells.
  4. Open door 1The tree starts bare. From here it fills one ornament a day.

Day by day

Watch your tree fill up

Drag through December. The tree you build on day 1 is bare, and by Christmas Eve every branch has something on it.

The photos show the same tree bare, half full and full. Which ornament is behind which door isn't published, so yours will fill in its own order.

Take turns

Five minutes at breakfast, every day of December

No screens, no sugar, nothing to charge. Just a small thing you do together before school.

  • Odd days and even daysTwo children? One opens the odd-numbered doors and the other opens the even ones. That's 12 each, and everyone knows whose turn it is.
  • The finder picks the branchWhoever opens the door decides where today's ornament goes. By the third week there's real strategy involved.
  • Hang the last one togetherSave door 24 for Christmas Eve after dinner, with everyone round the table.
All the ornament types around the tree: snowmen in top hats, Santas, red and blue bells, a bear, baubles and acorn shapes

What's behind the doors

24 little characters to hang

Each door hides one small wooden ornament, painted in Christmas colours, with a gold loop ready to hang.

  • Snowmen
  • Santas
  • Bells
  • Bears
  • Baubles
  • And more
  • Wood, not chocolate or card, so nothing gets eaten or torn.
  • They also hang on a full-size tree, a wreath or a garland.
  • They're small. With toddlers who still put things in their mouths, keep it a grown-up-helps activity.

The details

Sized for a breakfast table

It's a tabletop tree, not a floor tree: big enough to feel like a real little tree on a dresser or mantel, small enough to sit between the cereal bowls.

Questions

Good to know

Anything else? Email us and a person will answer.

What age is it for?

The maker lists it for kids and adults and doesn't publish a minimum age. Younger children love choosing the branch. The ornaments are small, so with toddlers keep it a grown-up-helps activity.

How does the box work?

The printed box has 24 numbered doors, one for each day from December 1 to 24. Open today's door, take out the ornament and hang it.

Is it hard to put together?

No. The two tree halves slot into each other, the trunk presses into the round base, and the star goes on top. No tools or glue, and it takes about a minute.

Does it light up?

No. This version comes without string lights and needs no batteries. Some of the maker's photos show lights; that's a different version.

Can we use it again next year?

Yes. The tree and ornaments are wood, and everything packs back into its box until next December.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are packed in 1–3 business days, then 5 to 10 day delivery to the US and Canada, with tracking. These are estimates and carriers can run late in December, so allow extra time if you want it for December 1.

What does shipping cost?

US shipping is free on orders over $50, so the 2 and 4 calendar packs ship free. A single calendar pays $8.95. We ship to the US and Canada, and shipping is shown at checkout before you pay.

What if it isn't right for us?

You have 30 days from delivery to start a return. It needs to be unused and in its original packaging. Return postage is yours unless the item is damaged, defective or wrong.

Is the 2-pack two separate boxes?

Yes. Each calendar is a complete set with its own tree, 24 ornaments and box.
